Terms of Service

These Terms of Service ("Terms") are a binding agreement between you and Thorin Ventures, LLC ("we," "us," or "our") governing your use of the Nura mobile application and related services (the "App"). By downloading, accessing, or using the App, you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the App.

1. Eligibility

You must be at least 13 years old to use Nura. If you are between 13 and 17, you represent that you have permission from a parent or legal guardian to use the App and that they agree to these Terms on your behalf.

2. The Service

Nura is a gamified Quran study app offering guided lessons, reading, recitation practice with voice recognition, spaced-repetition review, prayer times and Qibla, community features, and an AI study assistant. We may add, change, or remove features at any time.

3. Religious Content Disclaimer

Nura is an educational tool, not a source of religious authority. Quran translations and any explanations, summaries, quizzes, hadith context, or AI-generated responses are provided for study and may contain errors, simplifications, or interpretive choices. They are not fatwas or religious rulings. For religious guidance, consult a qualified scholar. While we strive for accuracy, we do not warrant that any content is complete, accurate, or free of error.

4. About the Nura Mascot

The "Nura" mascot is an original, fictional cartoon character and is our intellectual property. It is a cute cultural and motivational companion intended only to make habit-building engaging. The mascot is not a religious symbol, does not depict any prophet or sacred figure, and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or representative of Islam or any religious authority, scholar, or institution.

5. Accounts

You are responsible for the accuracy of your account information and for keeping your credentials secure. You are responsible for activity that occurs under your account. Notify us promptly of any unauthorized use.

6. Subscriptions and Payments

Nura offers optional paid subscriptions ("Nura Plus"). Subscriptions are billed through your Apple App Store account.

  • Auto-renewal: subscriptions automatically renew unless canceled at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your account is charged for renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
  • Managing and canceling: manage or cancel your subscription in your Apple App Store account settings. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription.
  • Free trials: any unused portion of a free trial is forfeited when you purchase a subscription.
  • Pricing changes: we may change prices; changes apply to future billing periods and, where required, with notice and your consent.
  • Refunds: payments are processed by Apple and are subject to Apple's policies; except where required by law, payments are non-refundable.

7. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the App for any unlawful purpose or in violation of these Terms.
  • Post or transmit content that is abusive, harassing, hateful, defamatory, obscene, or otherwise objectionable, including in AI chat or community features.
  • Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, scrape, or interfere with the App or its security.
  • Use the App to harm, harass, or impersonate others, or to circumvent usage limits or anti-abuse measures.
  • Use the AI features to generate harmful, illegal, or abusive content.

We may remove content and suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

8. User Content

You retain ownership of the content you create (such as notes, messages, and recitation audio). You grant us a worldwide, non-exclusive, royalty-free license to host, store, process, and use that content as needed to operate and improve the App. You are responsible for your content and represent that you have the rights to provide it.

9. Intellectual Property

The App, including its software, design, mascot, branding, and original content, is owned by Thorin Ventures, LLC and protected by intellectual-property laws. We grant you a limited, personal, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for its intended purpose. The Arabic text of the Quran is in the public domain; third-party translations are used under their respective licenses and remain the property of their owners.

10. Third-Party Services

The App uses third-party services (including Apple and Google). Your use of those services is subject to their terms and policies. We are not responsible for third-party services.

11. Disclaimers

THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, WHETHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, OR THAT CONTENT (INCLUDING RELIGIOUS OR AI-GENERATED CONTENT) IS ACCURATE OR COMPLETE.

12. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, THORIN VENTURES, LLC AND ITS OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR ANY LOSS OF DATA, PROFITS, OR GOODWILL, ARISING FROM YOUR USE OF THE APP. OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ANY CLAIM RELATING TO THE APP WILL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID US IN THE TWELVE MONTHS BEFORE THE CLAIM OR USD $50.

13. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Thorin Ventures, LLC from any claims, damages, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your use of the App, your content, or your violation of these Terms.

14. Termination

You may stop using the App and delete your account at any time. We may suspend or terminate your access if you violate these Terms or to protect the App and its users. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (including intellectual property, disclaimers, limitation of liability, and governing law) will survive.

15. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to its conflict-of-laws rules. You agree that the state and federal courts located in Delaware will have exclusive jurisdiction over any dispute not subject to other resolution, and you consent to their jurisdiction and venue. Before filing a claim, you agree to first contact us to attempt to resolve the dispute informally.

16. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date and, where appropriate, notify you in the App. Your continued use after changes take effect constitutes acceptance.
